Toots Thielemans, easily the most virtuosic harmonica player in the world, not to mention a world-class whistler and guitarist, passed away last week at 94 years old. His career spanned more than 75 years and continued uninterrupted until just days before he died. Listening to this song, Bluesette, one of his most loved and most recorded signatures, just transports me back to my childhood. His playing is so distinctive that you almost feel that he along with perhaps Stevie Wonder were the only real masters of the instrument. Listening to Bluesette is thrilling with his brilliant syncopation. I’ve listened to it hundreds of times and will never tire of it. This particular performance was only 7 years ago… Listen, enjoy and live every moment as if it’s your last. Toots did !!!!!
