You probably expected a conversation about race and the sad state these United States are in. Well, I considered it and yes the country is definitely in a sad place but something else came to mind. Anton and I took a walk through crowds of people at the Metropolitan Museum on Labor Day. It was the last day of the costume exhibit Manus x Machina and a big holiday so the Met was a ground zero of sorts.

After the show which was beautiful and compelling on many levels, we wandered over to look at the Modern paintings tucked away in a distant gallery. I’m always drawn to black and white in paintings, fashion, interior architecture, you name it. But paintings and photographs in black and white are especially interesting to me. So agonizing over what to write today I happened by a shop on the way home with new iterations of classic Stan Smith sneakers for Adidas.

Rooting around on the internet I discovered some cool sneakers that mix up the old and the new. Very soon Adidas Stan Smiths will be sold in a white sneaker with a black tongue. The 3 rows of perforations are lined in black creating a subtle contrasting stripe. They look very crisp and clean and great for anything simple or serious. And not to disappoint those of us who always want more wow, Stan Smiths will come in the exact opposite combination. A black sneaker with a white tongue and sole. A Tuxedo comes to mind when you see them. Sneakers have infiltrated all aspects of life. Keep your eyes open for them. They’re quiet sneakers with a cool twist.
