Scott Schumann of The Sartorialist has an incredible eye for detail and character. His subjects are a growing mass of fashionable types from here and in Paris, London and Milan. I like that they cover a range of ages and types. What they all have in common is incredible and sometimes way over the top style. It’s unapologetic and makes a case for the power of fashion and style. You can practically treat Schumann’s 3 volumes as primers on how to dress.
This guy walking purposefully down the street is so cool in his shirt and pants. It reminds me of walking in Doha, the capital of Qatar, where most of the men were in variations on this combination and djellabas.
At an average of 110 degrees each day for months at a time, heat in Doha is an oppressive fact of life. Being cool seems to come down to voluminous clothing. It works and is a cool change.
