My sneaker fixation is officially out of control. I know I’m late to the party but better late than never… Like having started in sneaker pre-school, I’ve advanced through the levels and now am in advanced post-grad studies.
My closet is bursting with Adidas, Nike and Stan Smiths in too many iterations. Still I’ve found a new wormhole to get lost in; the Taupe suede sneaker. In the early spring we stopped off in Paris after an Easter ski trip with the family to the Austrian Alps. Walking Jil Sander I spied a pair of taupe leather sneakers that stopped me dead in my tracks. Granted, I’ve never met a neutral color I didn’t flip for, this was a new concept.
Black and white sneakers have become the last word in appropriate attire for anything worn above the ankles. But looking at that taupe sneaker complimenting an out fit that was part jeans, part cashmere jacket and part dress shirt, the sneakers were a perfect punctuation mark. From that day on I’ve been looking for the right pair to add to the line up. When you dig deep you can find them and not just at scary high designer prices. Here are a few, and yes, I’ve gotten a couple and continue my search for the perfect pair !!!!!
