At the risk of sounding like a snob, I’ve always looked at Zara with just a touch of skepticism. I know, fast fashion is the name of the game but with it comes an awful lot of wear tonight and toss it tomorrow. Just recently I’ve noticed that they’re upping their game with a new collection within the larger one called Zara Studio. Maybe they feel pressure to be even more competitive with other fast fashion companies like Uniqlo and H&M. Whatever the reasoning, things are looking interesting. What caught my eye was an overcoat that is just this side of having a looser, more abstract cut. Dropped shoulders and a rounder, shorter silhouette makes it a perfect fall/early winter overcoat. There’s nothing formal about it but it could easily serve that function as well. The model is wearing a large hence the very loose and generously wrapped images. In a medium it works with less effort and styling assists… The fabric looks good and feels pretty good despite its contents. For $200. its not a bad investment and looks to last you at least 1 or 2 autumns.
The other compelling piece in this new Studio collection is a suede jacket in tan. The look, color, quality of make and subtle details make this a real steal. The neutral color looks great over regulation black or jeans and a sweater. It looks expensive and feels great. Suede jackets of any quality are almost impossible to find at $200. I’m getting this jacket for sure ! The whole Zara Studio collection is available in their stores and on their online store. Shipping is included!
